Chemi-Sense pH Detection Solid Film Test for Hydrocarbons

Routine lab analysis can delay critical decisions. Now, obtain accurate pH data of your hydrocarbons in the field within minutes using the patent-pending Chemi-Sense pH Detection Test Strip.

Routine lab analysis can delay critical decisions. Now, obtain accurate pH data of your problematic hydrocarbon matrices in the field within minutes using the patent-pending Chemi-Sense pH detection test.

This portable, self-contained test provides measurable, repeatable results that allow for same-day system adjustments and optimized inhibitor dosing without waiting for tedious laboratory turnaround. Existing pH test strips struggle in crude oil and dirty produced water samples. Ours is built into a solid film which removes dark color interference from crude oil and complex hydrocarbon/water matrices.

  • Reliable results in minutes.
  • Eliminates shipping and lab delays.
  • Enables on-site monitoring and rapid corrective action.
  • Compact, easy-to-use design with minimal training required.
  • Collect your sample.
  • Immerse the provided sensor film for at least one minute.
  • Transfer the film to the clean, dry container for up to 5 minutes.
  • Compare the developed film color to the provided calibration scale to determine pH.
  • Sensor response: accurate from a pH of 5.0 to 10.0 at 0.25 increments.
  • Applications: hydrocarbons, produced water, other application or low-level concentrations in process plants.
  • Reproducible results.
  • Minimum exposure time to sample is 1 minute.
  • Demonstrated no interference in crude or produced water.

Simple. Fast. Reliable.

FAQs

Each kit includes sensor film, calibration chart, sample container, drying container, and user instructions.

It measures pH of hydrocarbon matrices that are challenging to measure directly in a sample, expressed in pH.

You can obtain accurate results within minutes. Higher concentrations or higher temperatures produce faster results.

At least 1 minute.

The sensor provides reproducible results from pH of 5.0–10.0, with calibration intervals of pH 0.25.

No. The system is self-contained and portable—no external lab tools or analyzers are required.

Compare the developed film color against the included calibration scale to determine pH.

Yes. The specified 5 minute maximum response is at 70°F (21°C). Warmer conditions produce faster color development.

There are no known interferences, the sensor is only sensitive to pH. Contact us if an interference is a concern.

No. Each film is single-use only for one test.

Ensure the film remains immersed for the full minute. Drying during exposure time may increase the reaction time.

Yes. Always view color under consistent lighting and use the provided chart.

Shelf stability is still being tested. Current recommendation: use within 4 months of receiving.

Keep at room temperature, away from direct sunlight or high humidity.

Yes, cooler temperatures extend stability of the sensor. We are still testing shelf stability.

Dispose of used films and sample residues according to your facility’s chemical waste procedures.

No formal training required. The test comes with easy instructions.

It’s designed for batch or spot testing, not continuous monitoring. ReSpark is currently developing a continuous monitoring technology.

If color appears inconsistent or outside the range, retest with a fresh film and verify sample handling steps.

A digital companion app for automatic color quantification is under evaluation. Stay tuned for updates.

It is not currently capable of inserting into high-pressure lines. Collect a representative sample before testing. The sensor has been successfully tested to 200°F.
